Frequently Asked QuestionsFrequently Asked Questions

Do you have a question about El Camino Estates? Chances are it crossed someone else's mind too. Below you'll find a few frequently asked -- and answered -- questions. IADC-managed projects create sustainable impact on a small budget as you'll see below and all across on our website.

Project Specs

  • El Camino will provide 25 new dwelling units within 23 new and one rehabbed structure.
  • Groundbreaking is set for November 1, 2009.

How long has this project been in the works? Good question! IADC has been setting the groundwork for this project within the neighborhood for the past 20 years (we are, in fact, about to celebrate our 20th anniversary!). So, El Camino is the result of 20 years of developing affordable, heath-minded housing within the Latino community in Rochester:

  • 1992-93 rehab of two homes for first-time buyers bears out our focus on improving communities through home ownership and not unilateral service provision.
  • 1995-96 Ibero Homes pointed toward efforts to provide housing for people with developmental disabilities.
  • 1997-98 Ibero Family Center showcased our commitment to grassroots advocacy of the Latino community.
  • 2000 Senior Residential Center was a planned, long-term commitment to neighborhood.
  • 2009 Clifford Ave FashionWorks is an empowerment vehicle for members of the Latino community with developmental disabilities to build and enhance vocational skills.

What will the project do for the neighborhood?

  • El Camino is cushioned within Project HOPE (Healthy Outcomes through Participation, Education and Empowerment). As a neighbor-driven collaborative, Project HOPE focuses on learning about the neighborhood, its residents, and their key health priorities. This type of knowledgebase provides synergy for everything we develop in the neighborhood. Our strategy is to link different developments across the area -- a much different approach than traditional development -- and, little by little; but reliably, revitalize Rochester's northeast corridor.
